This is Alfa Romeo’s Centenary year, and the model line-up at Greener Company Car in Action 2010 will demonstrate to fleet buyers the next big step the marque is taking in terms of technology, refinement and greener credentials – with the full Alfa range benefiting from a host of advancements, as well as the introduction of the eagerly anticipated new C-Segment Alfa Giulietta, which goes on sale in the UK this summer.
New engine technologies play a pivotal role in Alfa Romeo’s master plan for greener, sporting cars, and these developments affect the entire range.
Available to test at this year’s event will be the compact B-Segment Alfa MiTo, which features the ground-breaking new MultiAir (petrol) and MultiJet II (diesel) engines; offering the perfect combination of lower CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, without compromising performance. Likewise the stunning executive D-Segment Alfa 159 benefits from the latest in engine efficiency and refinement with the introduction of Alfa’s 200bhp 1750TBi (petrol) and 170bhp 2.0 JTDM (diesel) – producing lower emissions and fuel consumption whilst giving excellent in-gear acceleration, high top speeds and relaxed cruising potential, ideal for long distance driving.
Completing the line-up and making its fleet debut will be the all-new five-door C-Segment Alfa Giulietta. Benefiting from a host of technological advancements embracing safety, efficiency, design and emissions – which start from just 114g/km CO2 – the sporty Giulietta also promises practicality and comfort, and is set to become a best-in-class contender, with a strong line-up of greener petrol and diesel engines – including MultiAir and second generation MultiJet powerplants.
At the Greener Company Car in Action event, Citroën will be demonstrating its commitment to providing an ever-widening range of highly fuel efficient, low emissions, cars and vans. The company’s 15 strong vehicle display will include its two newly launched sub 100 g/km CO2 emission models – the innovative, “anti-retro” DS3 DStyle 99g and the C3 Airdream+, both of which have emissions of just 99g/km.
In addition the newly launched 130g/km C5 1.6HDi VTR+ NAV will make its public debut, alongside the recently introduced, range-topping Berlingo Enterprise van.
Other low emissions Citroëns will also be on display, including the 106g/km C1 in recently launched, range-topping VTR+ format. Also making its debut at the event is Citroën’s innovative C3 Picasso compact MPV, which is shown in newly launched Airdream+ format - with CO2 emissions of just 119g/km. The unique, stylish DS3 will also be on show in range-topping DSport format. The Citroën display is completed with the Grand C4 Picasso and C5 saloons and tourers.
As one of the cleanest, greenest car manufacturers in the world, Fiat is delighted to be represented at this year’s Greener Company Car in Action. This year, Fiat once again set new standards in cutting carbon dioxide emissions after posting an average CO2 figure of just 127.8g/km – beating the European average target of 130g/km five years ahead of its 2015 introduction.
With a stunning range packed full of new, fuel-saving technologies – many powered by the frugal MultiAir and MultiJet 2 engines – the Fiat line-up offers new choices for fleet managers looking for cars with high quality and low running costs. There are no less than 55 model variants to choose from in Fiat’s range of low CO2 (120g/km or less) vehicles, from the Fiat 500 city car to the recently-launched Punto Evo and new class-leading Doblo Cargo, of which a variety will be available for fleet managers to drive at the event.
Top fuel economy and low emissions are key factors in Fiat’s line-up. Most Fiat cars and Fiat Professional light commercial vehicles now include environmentally-friendly features such as Start&Stop, Gear Shift Indicator and eco:Drive Fleet, the multi-award winning computer application that helps fleet managers and drivers understand the impact of their motoring on the environment, offering suggestions on saving fuel and reducing emissions.

Most manufacturers are yet to produce a first generation hybrid but Lexus already has 3 full hybrid models in the market. Lexus Hybrid Drive delivers class leading environmental benefits without compromising luxury. The latest generation product has drawn on more than a decade of experience in full hybrid powertrain technology to bring about improvements in every aspect of the vehicle's Lexus Hybrid Drive system.
No other technology can match the performance of Lexus Hybrid Drive. Simply put nothing that’s as powerful is as clean and economical and nothing that’s as clean and economical is as powerful.
For example the RX450h emits just 148gkm/CO2 but has combined fuel economy of 44.8mpg and power of 299 DIN HP As a result Benefit In kind is just 14%.
Although Lexus is already the only manufacturer to offer a range of full hybrid vehicles, from the RX450h SUV to the GS450h sports saloon and on to the luxury LS600h, in early 2011 we will launch the CT200h, the world’s first premium C segment hybrid.

Everything we do at Mazda is daring, ingenious and fun. All our cars have that extra-special ‘Zoom-Zoom’ factor: sports inspired design and motoring in their soul. We also push the boundaries and set new standards with our range of environmentally advanced vehicles, offering improved fuel efficiency, lower CO2 emissions, exceptional Whole Life Costs and strong residual values.
Take the all-new Mazda3. With i-stop smart idling technology fitted as standard to the Mazda3 2.0 Sport, we are able to achieve emission levels of 159g/km, fitting under the capital allowance threshold, but the range does go as low as 119g/km in its 1.6 diesel model. Additionally, the Mazda6, which recently won the WhatCar? 2010 ‘Family car’ and ‘Estate Car of the Year’, features the new diesel engine which meets the requirements of Mazda’s ‘Sustainable Zoom‑Zoom’ plan by being frugal at the pump. All power derivatives achieve between 50.4 and 51.4 mpg (combined cycle), boasting some of the most impressive figures in the segment.
Mazda is also investing in your future too by developing a range of new engines incorporating ‘Sky’ technology, Mazda’s innovative way of reducing emissions and increasing fuel economy by as much as 30% coming to a Mazda near you in 2012.
Mazda’s featured at this year’s Greener Company Car in Action include the Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda3 MPS, Mazda5 and Mazda6.
