£26,302 - £35,225 (Band 6) Per Annum
The Scottish Ambulance Service Fleet Department are recruiting a full time Fleet Engineer to join the Fleet Department, essential to the effective specification, design, procurement and maintenance of the national fleet of 1,450 emergency response, scheduled care and support vehicles. The post will work closely with the existing team ensuring best engineering practice, innovation and training provision nationally across the 15 in house maintenance facilities and partners.
The post holder will be experienced in vehicle design and conversion specification preparation and evaluation. They should be conversant with current legislation including that relating to the design, testing and use of emergency response and patient conveyance vehicles and equipment.
Taking a national approach the post holder will identify engineering trends and opportunities making the necessary recommendations and implementing national training plans to ensure staff have the skills to maintain vehicles and equipment to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will hold an OCR Certificate of Professional Competence, be educated to degree level in mechanical or automotive engineering or equivalent recognized apprenticeship route, hold a full driving licence for, as a minimum, groups B, C1, D1 (and preferably A) and have excellent computer skills being competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
This is a full time position working 37.5 hours Monday to Friday with some flexibility required to meet specific project needs. The post will be based at the Scottish Ambulance Service National Headquarters in Edinburgh but will require travel nationally on a regular basis to ensure national engagement and uniformity.
