Reporting Directly to the Associate Director of the Blood Donor and Transport Services within SNBTS to drive and continually improve the National Transport Service for Bood. Tissues and Cells donation collection and component delivery to NHS Scotland providing management oversight of the SNBTS Transport operation, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements in line with legislation and Blood Safety and Quality Regulations.
The post older will be expected to effectively manage the provision of a National Transport service within ~SNBTS which ensures that blood and blood products are collected and delivered to clinical and medical units in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements.
Lead on the direction of activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles, in order to plan, organize and manage SNBTS transportation of the supply of Blood Tissues and Cells nationally to areas throughout NHS Scotland. In addition, department also manages the provision of pool cars and the relocation of essential clinical equipment for services users.
The management of staff based is the two main transport hubs on a day to day basis to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements, transport legislation, NSS/SNBTS policies and procedures.
Responsible for ensuring that SNBTS Transport Services operates within statutory and regulatory requirements including compliance with the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations (2005) as amended, the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Department of Transport Regulations and the Data Protection Act
Accountable for SNBTS National Transport services being provided effectively ensuring that consumables and equipment are acquired and maintained as efficiently to represent good value for money in line with Standing Financial Instructions.
Responsible and accountable for the Transport budget and physical resources including forward planning. and continuous improvement within the Transport Services to support service modernisation and innovation resulting from new developments and initiatives that impact on transportation.
