Rapid take up of the Streetcar service by Camden residents has led to the operator and council adding 19 new locations, which will be launched next month.

Streetcar, which hires Volkswagen Golfs, Polos and Transporter vans on a pay-as-you-go basis, has doubled its membership in Camden over the past year to 4,500 members and, in partnership with Camden council, is increasing its locations from 66 to 85 (housing more than 120 vehicles) to cope with this rise in demand.

Brett Akker, Streetcar co-founder, said: “Camden residents have really embraced the flexibility and convenience that Streetcar can offer and we are delighted to be adding more locations to meet demand.

“The vast majority of Camden residents will now have a Streetcar within a five minute walk from home.”

Streetcar members can reserve a car online (www.streetcar.co.uk) or over the phone, from just £4.95 per hour, and use smartcards to unlock the vehicle.

At the end of the journey the car is returned to its dedicated Streetcar parking bay.
