RoadScan has launched its latest video event data recorder - an in-cab camera that records accidents and monitors driver behaviour, potentially saving fleets on false insurance claims and on fuel bills.

The forward facing camera records accident and provides vehicle speed and location information.

The Digital Image Tachograph tracker provides a daily record of the vehicle’s route, while RoadScan continuously records on a 30-second loop and captures and saves 15 seconds before and 15 seconds after it is triggered by a driving event.

It can also be set to continuous record and save mode which can be used for driver training reviews.

Recent analysis of a fleet using the system showed accidents were cut by 80% over 18 months. Fuel consumption was also cut.

The device is tamper proof and features a GPS module providing speed, map location, event plotting and historic tracking of routes taken shown on Google Maps, stamping the date and time of each stage of the journey.
