Two National Windscreens technicians from Scotland have taken first and second place in the Scottish heat of UK Master Fitter, with Steve Wynn going on to be runner up in the UK wide competition held as part of the World Skills event.

This year National Windscreens in Glasgow and Edinburgh put forward two of their highly qualified technicians to compete in the Scottish heat held in Glasgow, one of seven regional heats held across the UK, and again the standard of the skills shown was exceptionally high. Steven Wynn from the Glasgow branch and Davie Moore from the Edinburgh branch both did exceptionally well in the Scottish heat, Steven winning the competition and David coming second. Steven was then invited to compete in the UK wide competition. This year the UK final was held at the World Skills competition in London. Steven again did exceptionally well finishing as runner up by a very narrow margin from the overall winner.

Andrew Rae, Operations Manager at National Windscreens in Glasgow confirms: “It was fantastic to see the UK Master Fitter competition as part of such a high profile event as the World Skills event, recognising the specialist skills and expertise required in the automotive glazing sector.”

“Entering a competition like the Master Fitter demonstrates an appetite for improving skills for both the employee and employer and this provides an excellent example of the culture of professional development that is so strong at National Windscreens”
