Employees at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Birmingham have delivered a cheque for £1,000 to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charity.

The trust was nominated by Enterprise’s West Midlands regional office after the team heard about the work being done by the charity, in particular at the hospital’s Fisher House.

Fisher House is a “home away from home” for the families of military patients being treated at the hospital. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham receives all military patients who are injured or fall ill anywhere around the world.

Andy Bland, head of sales, West Midlands at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, said: “We were inspired to do something after hearing about the work being done on the ward from our customer, TR Fleet. Many of our employees have friends and family members who serve in the armed forces, so it is a cause that is very close to home. We’re proud that we can do something to help this local charity, which plays such an important role for the UK soldiers.”

The donation from Enterprise will pay for 40 nights’ accommodation at Fisher House.

The cheque was presented to Justine Davy, head of fundraising at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, by Andy Bland from Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Julie Summerell, managing director at TR Fleet.

Davy said: “It means so much to our injured and sick troops to know that their loved ones are close by and being looked after. It also helps in their recovery to be able to spend time with their family away from the hospital ward. A huge thank you to the staff at Enterprise for their incredible generosity which will enable even more families to stay at Fisher House.”
