Enterprise Rent-A-Car is opening its first Isle of Wight branch in the centre of Newport this month.

The global car hire company will initially create three new jobs on the Isle of Wight at its new location on Crocker Street, which was previously the site of a car sales business.

Two of the new jobs will be graduate trainee positions, forming part of Enterprise’s management scheme that can lead to career opportunities across Europe and the USA.

Strategically located in the Isle of Wight’s largest town and close to its biggest businesses, the new branch will offer residents and organisations access to a fleet of cars and light commercial vehicles through a range of daily, weekly and longer term programmes.

Paul Smith, general manager of Enterprise in the South of England said: “Expanding our branch network onto the Isle of Wight is very important to Enterprise. Listening to our customers is the most important thing to us and recently, our customers have expressed the need for our services on the island.

“When we spoke to local residents and the council it became clear that it was imperative that we locate a branch in Newport. Our new site is based in the centre of the town, conveniently positioned to serve the Newport community.

“The Isle of Wight is an exciting next step for Enterprise. Locating here not only brings new and existing customers a greater choice for travel, it also helps connect the island to our existing customer base on the mainland. We hope that our rental service will help encourage tourists to visit and enhance their experience of the island."
