Car and van leasing provider Fleetdrive Electric has extended its product range to include an electric vehicle flexi-lease.

This means that fleet operators can find out if electric vehicles can realistically add benefit to their business without making a long-term commitment.

Slough Borough Council is already using Fleetdrive’s flexi-lease arrangement to operate two Nissan Leafs.

Fleetdrive conducted a sustainable fleet analysis for the council and identified a number of practical operational uses  where electric vehicles could generate long-term savings.

Cllr Satpal Parmar, commissioner for environment and open spaces, said: “We are always looking for new ways of encouraging more sustainable methods of travel, improving air quality and making the borough a greener and healthier place to live.

“Electric cars are the way of the future and I’m delighted Slough is leading the way with this trial.”

Switching one fleet vehicle to an electric alternative can reduce fleet running costs by up to £2,000 a year in fuel savings alone and save on average 1.6 tonnes of CO2 per vehicle, according to Fleetdrive.

Mike Potter, managing director at Fleetdrive, said: “With driving costs as low as 2p per mile, and the commitment-free flexible leasing arrangements we can offer, electric vehicles make real business sense."
