Saga Group has replaced its diesel vans with Renault Kangoo ZE models.

Working with the AlphaElectric consulting team, analysis revealed that replacing the existing diesel vans with EVs offered whole life cost savings of over £4,000 per vehicle, as well as significant CO2 reductions, resulting in the group taking delivery of four Renault Kangoo ZE electric vans.

Since then, the EVs have been in daily use moving office equipment, post and maintenance staff between the company’s locations in Kent.

Lukas Jansen Van Vuuren, fleet and in-house services manager at Saga described the fleet’s move into EVs as “plain sailing”.  He said: “The drivers use them all day, plug them in to charge at night and come back the next morning and off they go.  To the drivers they are just like a normal vehicle.

“As a company we are really aware of the importance of reducing emissions both now and in the future.  The AlphaElectric consulting team enabled us to measure and validate our vehicle options based on our own specific activities”.

David Bushnell, eMobility Consultant at Alphabet added: “Today, sustainability is a priority for many companies, with an increasing number looking for ways to minimise fleet CO2 emissions.  With this in mind, EVs are fast becoming a viable option for businesses.

"To ensure the process of adopting EVs into fleet is simple, Alphabet’s AlphaElectric consultancy service provides customers with the right advice and support to make this change possible, and that’s exactly what we did for Saga Group.  We worked closely with them to understand their eMobility needs and developed a customised solution to meet their requirements.”
