Bibby Distribution has won two gold awards from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The business was recognised with gold awards in fleet safety and occupational safety due to an increased focus on risk assessment, safe working and operating procedures.

According to Bibby, this saw a 39% reduction in the number of incidents reportable to the HSE under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrence Regulations (RIDDOR).

The distributor said the introduction of telematics to increase fleet efficiency and facilitate driver training also resulted in the number of vehicle accidents, which fell by 15%.

Bibby Distribution’s head of safety, health, environment and quality Andrew Mawson said: “Nothing is more important than the health and safety of our colleagues, contractors and customers.

"That’s why we’ve invested in safer working practices to reinforce our already-robust processes, as we always want to improve.

"Our customers can be sure that in all our operations, we never compromise on doing the right thing for our people and our communities.”

As well as RoSPA, Bibby Distribution is also a member of the British Safety Council and works with the non-for-profit organisation to reduce risk, prevent injuries and promote health and well-being in the workplace.
