A European Commission study is seeking the views of commercial fleet operators on CNG fuelled vehicles to help inform the future roll-out of refuelling infrastructure.

The UK is behind other EU countries and the rest of the world in the adoption of natural gas as a realistic and low cost alternative fuel for heavy transport applications.  With a growing number of heavy and light commercial natural gas vehicles on the market, there are now increased opportunities in the UK to look at this option.

Transport and Travel Research are conducting a market study as part of a European Commission-funded feasibility study.

Andy Parkinson, senior consultant at TTR, said, “The initial element of the project is looking at attitudes to CNG and refuelling infrastructure and we are looking to gain as many views as possible from the fleet industry.  The survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete and is limited to just 13 short questions.”
