Road safety charity Brake is inviting all organisations with employees who drive for work to take part in its annual fleet safety survey.

The survey, conducted by Brake Professional with the support of Licence Bureau, will look at the six key areas of road safety covered in the Brake Pledge:

• Slow – within speed limits
• Sober – free from alcohol or drugs
• Sharp – not tired, ill or with poor eyesight
• Silent – phone off and out of reach
• Secure – belted up in a safe vehicle
• Sustainable – only when you have to

Taking part in the fleet safety survey is free and anonymous, and provides organisations with an opportunity to benchmark themselves against industry safety standards. All organisations who take part receive a free copy of the survey report and results. Brake’s 2015 survey was completed by more than 200 organisations operating fleets of various sizes and types, and with responsibility for thousands of drivers and vehicles.

Official figures show that at least 10 people are killed each week and 100 seriously injured in crashes involving people driving for work and taking part in the fleet safety survey is an opportunity for organisations to identify ways to improve their occupational road risk management and take action to reduce the number of collisions on our roads involving at-work drivers.

The Pledge is also the theme of this year’s Road Safety Week, which takes place November 21-27, 2016. Completing the fleet safety survey is a way for organisations to show their support for this year’s Road Safety Week theme, and Brake will be providing lots of advice and resources for organisations that want to engage further with the Pledge and Road Safety Week.

Complete the fleet safety survey online here. The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete, and will close on Friday, July 15 2016.
