The Energy Saving Trust has shortlisted 31 fleets, suppliers and vehicle manufacturers for the 2016 Fleet Hero Awards.

The awards showcase organisations that have successfully reduced fuel bills and lowered their emissions and carbon footprint through better transport policies and improved fleet efficiency.

The winners will be announced on the evening of November 24 at the London Transport Museum. Transport Minister Andrew Jones MP will attend the ceremony and give a keynote speech to an audience of notable business leaders, fleet management professionals and government stakeholders.

During the afternoon delegates will also have the opportunity to attend the Fleet Hero Conference which brings together expert speakers from the Government’s Joint Air Quality Unit, BMW, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Arval, Farmdrop, and the BVRLA to discuss clean fuels and technologies and the role fleets can play in helping to tackle air pollution.

Philip Sellwood, chief executive of the Energy Saving Trust, said: “This year’s Fleet Hero Awards is our 11th celebration of sustainable fleet management and low emission transport and it remains a great opportunity to meet with leaders in the transport and fleet management industry.

“Our shortlist includes organisations from all around the country that are cutting emissions with forward-looking transport policies and fleet efficiency. This year we have included an Innovation Award recognising fleet managers, vehicle manufacturers or fleet service suppliers who are leading the way and have recently introduced and proven the effect of an innovative measure to reduce fleet emission.”

The awards will be hosted by Robert Llewellyn who is perhaps best known for his role as Kryten in hit BBC comedy Red Dwarf and as co-presenter of Channel 4’s Scrapheap Challenge. More recently he has forged a strong position for himself as an automotive journalist and an expert on green cars – in particular electric cars, and launched EV web series Fully Charged in 2010.
