Just nine months after arsonists destroyed the original Fix Auto Huntingdon bodyshop, the business’ owner Phil Whitaker has officially declared his brand new, replacement 24,000 sq ft repair centre is now fully operational.

Housing three spraybooths and a direct one-way workflow system, the business’ third bodyshop - which operates alongside its Fix Auto Spalding and Fix Auto Peterborough sites - has the capacity to repair up to 80 vehicles a week.

Whitaker said: “The fire destroyed everything so we have had to completely rebuild the centre from scratch. We took our time to find the right site - one that will future-proof the whole operation and provide us with the capability to increase production going forward.”

He added: “I’m incredibly proud, not only of what we have created at the new site, but with the efforts of the whole team who have worked tirelessly to ensure production has continued throughout the transition to the new building – which has been seamless.”

After touring the new site, Ian Pugh of Fix Auto UK paid tribute to all involved saying: “Fix Auto Huntingdon is an incredible example of how a team pulls together when faced with such adversity.

“The new repair centre is more than double the size of the previous building and is another illustration of a major investment by one of our franchisees determined to invest in long term capacity in order to service our insurer clients.”
