TOM Vehicle Rental is among the 40 organisations to be awarded a Princess Royal Training Award, the City & Guilds Group has announced.

Founded in Scotland in 1991, TOM Vehicle Rental operates a fleet of more than 16,000 commercial vehicles including vans, trucks, trailers and cars, from 15 depots nationwide.

The list of awardees includes public and private sector businesses of all sizes, from areas including hospitality, healthcare, finance and manufacturing that have been commended by Princess Anne for their commitment to training and skills development.

TOM Vehicle Rental has been recognised on the strength of its dedication to apprenticeship provision.

The company has more than 59 apprentices working across the UK.

Robert Stewart, chief executive officer at TOM Vehicle Rental said: “We’re delighted to have been recognised for our apprenticeship scheme.

"We believe in upskilling those who are new to the industry and encourage our employees to share their skills to ensure that we avoid any skills gaps in the future.

"We are passionate about supporting the next generation of employees and are proud of all of our apprentices working at our depots across the country.

"To receive royal recognition for the work we do with our apprentices is an honour and we look forward to attending the awards ceremony later in the year.”

In addition to the Princess Royal Training Award, TOM Vehicle Rental was commended for its apprenticeship scheme at the S1jobs Awards earlier this year, was a finalist at the 2017 HR Excellence Awards for Best Youth Employment Strategy and is a finalist for three HR Network Awards including; Talent Management, Recruitment & Attraction and Corporate Responsibility (winners will be announced later this year).
