O’Donovan Waste Disposal has received a European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) Praise award which recognises organisations that have taken outstanding measures to improve vehicle fleet safety.

The European Conference on Road Safety at Work took place in Brussels on October 19 and incorporated the awards ceremony.

The winner in the SME category, O’Donovan had demonstrated its industry-leading range of innovative initiatives and processes which have been implemented in recent months to tackle the risks posed by driving for work.

Judges noted: “O’Donovan has demonstrated strong leadership from the top down and is acting as a passionate champion for work-related road risk management.

"It is aiming not just to be an example of best practice, but to set the industry standard."

ETSC’s Praise project addresses the safety of driving for work and promotes best practice to help employers secure high road safety standards.

The award is presented annually to those companies identified as responsibly taking on the road safety challenge.

Jacqueline O’Donovan, managing director of O’Donovan, said, “To see our name featuring with the other winners, Johnson and Johnson EMEA and the Belgian Military is an honour for our family-run business.

"We pride ourselves on our standards for road safety and have a shared vision with all staff in our business to continue to help improve the image of the waste industry.

"Having our efforts recognised at a European level is a great achievement.”
