The Freight Transport Association has signed a five-year contract extension with the AA for the provision of breakdown and recovery services to 2,000 FTA Recovery members for their 86,000 mixed vehicle fleets.

The fully comprehensive contract, effective immediately, sees the AA's fleet and SME division provide services to cars, vans and HGVs.

The AA has been the official provider to FTA since 1991. The partnership has enabled FTA Recovery members to benefit from preferential breakdown rates and avoid annual fees whilst also streamlining the application process.

Stuart Thomas, head of fleet and SME services at the AA, said: “We are thrilled to have secured the extension and are delighted to be the official service provider for such a prestigious membership organisation, one of the largest in the UK.

"The past 26 years have seen us work closely with FTA to forge strong relationships across the two businesses.

"This has allowed us to further our understanding of the needs of our freight and fleet customers, which, in turn, enables us improve our offering.”

Pippa Shepherd, director of membership at FTA, said: “Our partnership with the AA is an important reinforcement of our commitment to ensuring members’ vehicles are back on the road swiftly when problems occur.

"FTA members can access these services without an annual subscription fee, and benefit from a reduced call-out rate and easy sign-up procedure.

"We are delighted to continue this partnership and offer our members the best possible recovery service to keep their vehicles moving.”
