Volvo Car UK is celebrating 'a resounding success’ after attending Fleet News's two-day Company Car in Action event which saw it secure ‘significant sales leads’.

The Swedish vehicle manufacturer used the annual show at the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire to formally unveil its all-new flagship XC90 seven-seat SUV to a fleet audience. This was the first time that key influencers in the sector had driven the car which offers CO2 emissions of 49g/km, a benefit-in-kind value of 5% (for the T8 Twin Engine variant due later this year) and class-leading safety technology.

The Volvo stand brought a number of other attractions to CCIA visitors, including the V40 D2 R-Design, the D3 hatchback and the XC60, the smaller SUV that combines rugged and urban looks, whilst delivering 190hp, and 117g/km CO2 from its D4 engine.

Throughout the event, numerous fleet and business car users enjoyed test drives at the Millbrook facility of models from across the latest range, resulting in an extremely positive response and the acquisition of significant sales lead, according to Volvo.

The automaker’s Business Sales team provided an in-depth handover and tour of the echnological features and key attributes of the latest XC90 prior to any individual taking to the road. This was complemented by an overview of ‘Co-Pilot’, Volvo’s driver risk compliance programme, which made its debut in 2014.

The Volvo V60 Polestar estate equally proved a ‘star attraction’, according to Volvo. With a Pro Driver at the wheel of the 350hp estate car, visitors experienced speeds in excess of 150mph around Millbrook’s famed High Speed Bowl.

Selwyn Cooper, head of Business Sales at Volvo Car UK, said: “Company Car In Action provides a valuable opportunity to meet face-to-face with our target audience and the industry’s key decision-makers. It allows us to actively demonstrate and personally walk through the merits and differentiators of each model, thereby reinforcing the high value proposition of today’s product line-up for company car users. We are thrilled that the event was such as success, and are already looking forward to building on this triumph for next year’s show.”
