Volkswagen will give UK fleets their first opportunity to drive the new Tiguan SUV at Company Car In Action in June.

The second-generation model will arrive in the UK in right-hand drive form just in time for the event at Millbrook Proving Ground, Bedfordshire, on June 14-15.

The new Tiguan is slightly larger and roomier than its predecessor, with more fuel-efficient engines, lower CO2 emissions and new technology.

The Tiguan also comes with new safety features with Front Assist, City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring, as standard from entry-level variants, while new options include a head-up display, 360º camera view and trailer assist.

The new interior offers increased head room and leg room, and has been given a more upmarket feel. The luggage compartment has a lower load sill and is more spacious than in the previous version.

In the UK, the new Tiguan will eventually be offered with up to three new petrol engines, with power outputs from 125hp to 180hp, and four new diesel engines ranging from 115hp to 240hp. It will initially be offered with 150hp diesel and 180hp petrol engines, with other versions following in the summer.

The Tiguan will be sown alongside latest versions of the Golf, as well as the recently upgraded Passat.

Alongside the popular Golf GTD, the GTE plug-in hybrid and high-performance Golf R, will be a special version of the GTI, marking the 40th anniversary of that model with a power upgrade to 230hp.

The Passat SE Business has now superseded the Passat SE, and includes extra equipment (navigation, front fog lights, rear privacy glass and electric folding door mirrors) worth £555 when specified as options on the SE for a premium of £100.
Milbrook Proving Ground provides the best opportunity to evaluate cars in an environment created precisely for that purpose.

Attendees will be able to try the latest models back to back in a safe environment on a choice of circuits that replicate real live driving and road conditions.

It offers the choice of four routes to assess different aspects of vehicle performance, including a hill route to test handling and responses, a high-speed bowl to replicate motorway driving at speeds of up to 100mph, a city route for manoeuvrability assessment, and an off-road course for 4x4s.

Company Car In Action is also the only opportunity fleet decision makers will have to test Volkswagen cars at a driving event in 2016.

Michael O’Shea, head of fleet at Volkswagen, said: “Company Car In Action is a great way for us to connect, direct with the people who actually make fleet decisions day-to-day.

“The format of the event offers an ideal opportunity for these decision-makers to see and experience the cars side by side and in our case, with such a strong line-up in place including an early drive opportunity of the exceptional new Tiguan SUV, to drive class-leading new Volkswagen models.”
