Same day delivery firm Citysprint is looking to take on more than 200 additional couriers in the run up to the festive season.

The new recruits will join CitySprint’s fleet of over 3,200 couriers to support with both ongoing business growth and increased seasonal demand.

According to IMRG, parcel volumes in 2015 hit 1.065 billion, exceeding industry forecasts to finish 15.7% up on 2014, driven largely by the 260 million parcels dispatched during November and December, and this year is expected to see another similar rise.

For CitySprint, the increased peak season demand continues right through from Black Friday to the final days before Christmas, in fact last year Friday 18th December was the busiest day of the year for the distribution service.

Patrick Gallagher, CEO, CitySprint, said: “We understand that peak season is one of the most demanding times of the year for our clients, and we’re committed to going the extra mile to support them. Bolstering our fleet will allow us to deliver the first class service we’re known for during this busy period.”

“2016 has been an exciting year for CitySprint: - we’ve invested in new technology, rolled out new offerings and welcomed a new investor – and we’re looking forward to ending it on a high.”
