Fleet & Transport Manager Job Description

BRS Jobs are on the lookout for a Fleet & Transport Manager to be based from our client’s Elmbridge site. The Fleet & Transport manager to support a fast paced, time critical waste collection environment. Duties also include controlling day-to-day activities of the vehicle workshops as well as ensuring and reporting maximum uptime of vehicle availability.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

* To manage and administer all aspects of the company Operator license.

* Ensure that all DVSA compliance standards as well as companies own compliance standards are adhered to at all times. This includes timely scheduling for PMI, MOT, drivers routine checks, Tachographs among other compliance measures

* Ensure all vehicles are maintained and serviced according to Operator Licence requirements

* Responsible for managing the company's fleet maintenance and administration of vehicle maintenance documentation systems. This will include taking reasonable cost cutting measure for fleet maintenance like researching for best prices for parts

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage resources to ensure daily service completion within SLA. Overseeing the scheduling of servicing, MOT, repairs and routine maintenance to minimalize disruption to service continuity.

Optimizes resources and continuously reviews the operations to improve profitability and customer service, managing change where necessary. Manage site performance through the use of Masternaut and Power BI.

Check current fleet data and update weekly, Issue purchase orders accordingly. Oversee the ordering of spare parts from suppliers while managing budget. Managing Operator’s Licence administration across the Company, ensuring it is kept up-to-date and accurate information is recorded and stored.

Ensuring any issues picked up from audits are addressed immediately with no re-occurrence, Managing fuel purchasing across the Account, Managing fleet administration i.e. insurance, health & safety.

Proactive management of telematics, highlighting and addressing any issues in an accurate and timely manner. Manage the maintenance of Key2. Liasing with Principal Operations Manager to implement new policies. Continuously monitor STH and LTH vehicles looking for opportunities to reduce hire costs.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGEABLE IN:

HEALTH & SAFETY

Ensures that all relevant legislative requirements are adhered to and that Company procedures and standards (including Health and Safety, personnel, finance and Transport) are maintained. Undertake gate checks and crew checks to ensure to ensure compliance to health & safety, vehicle and PPE policies.

Investigate all accidents. Run reports to confirm employees are conducting pre & post vehicle checks and reporting faults where necessary. Proactively report and investigate all close calls and accidents.

Proactively monitor and manage fuel consumption and driver behavior. Ensure mandatory training and certification is in place

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

Sets and agrees clear objectives with all operational staff, regularly monitoring their performance and taking corrective action where appropriate. Conducts training needs analysis and delivers site specific training where required.

Leads and motivates staff through positive employee engagement through open communication. Undertake people management responsibilities including PDRs, performance conversations, absence management and dealing with disciplinary matters, including dismissals, appeals and grievances in line with Company policy

Carry out inductions for new employees and agency workers. Represent the companies values and act as a personal role model in driving adherence to core procedures, policies and system. Supervise work of outsourced labour/ sub-contractors

Take action against any infringements reports on from Tacho reports. Such action includes issuing disciplinary warning & other measures. May be called upon to conduct driver briefings on performance, operations, compliance, health & safety, clients concern among other relevant issues to drivers responsibility

CLIENT/SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIP

Proactively build client and stakeholder relationships to improve contract performance

Maintain open communication with client officers.

Actively manage customer engagement and satisfaction.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

* CPC National Operators Licence (Haulage)

* IOSH Managing Safely

* You would have substantial fleet management experience in a multi-site environment

* Good IT skills

* Good communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work with own initiative and meet deadlines

* Good knowledge of transport and Driver Regulations

* Full UK driving licence and HGV Class 1 or 2 Licence & experience of driving trucks/lorries

* A flexible worker, with a positive approach to work
