Case study: LSG Sky Chefs

Airline catering company LSG Sky Chefs expects to save £10,000 on its maintenance and repair bill after introducing Jaama’s Key2 fleet management software.

The company has 300 vehicles (100 cars and vans and 200 HGVs).

Until recently it did not have a joined up approach to fleet management, Each of the nine sites used separate spreadsheets with no consistency on format or how often they were updated.

John Burgess, distribution manager at the company’s largest site at Heathrow, was asked to look at fleet costs for the whole of the UK.

He identified that fleet management software was essential to centralise costing.

After getting the go-ahead he narrowed the choice down to three software suppliers and Jaama was successful thanks to strong customer references.

A consultant from Jaama was allocated to manage the project.

There were three meetings to go through requirements and how to approach implementation. This was followed by setting up data and training users.

The Heathrow site went live within two months. The other sites are due to go live by the end of September.
Being able to consolidate the supplier base is one of the key benefits.

“We will be able to compare what different sites are paying for parts, labour rates, tyre changes and accident repairs,” Burgess says.

Driver management is also an important as LSG Sky Chefs has air side regulations to meet.

Burgess says the reporting is good, there are no problems importing fuel card data and the system is easy to use.
