An Assistant Transport Fleet Manager is required for a sector leading business that has demonstrated exceptional growth over recent years and recently retained FORS Bronze status. You’ll be based in Derby and manage fleet and driver compliance across the entire operation.
As the Assistant Fleet Manager you’ll support the Fleet Manager and operation to ensure that vehicle maintenance schedules, servicing, breakdowns and driver compliance are managed to maximise fleet availability.
You will be rewarded with a base salary in the region of £30,000 to £35,000 with 20 days holiday plus stats and pension scheme.
Your role will provide a great deal of variety and you’ll be part of a strong fleet and operations team.
With over 100 mixed vehicles and other mechanical assets, you will ensure that all vehicles meet the required standard as stated by the DOT. You’ll work with the internal VMU operations to ensure that all vehicle defects are rectified and closed off efficiently and monitoring the online vehicle defect reporting system throughout the day. You’ll assist in managing the activities of the workshop and fitters workloads and service levels from external service providers to ensure that maintenance schedules are adhered to and progressed quickly.
You will be responsible for vehicle downloads and analysis the data to ensure the vehicles are operating within the legal limits. You’ll manage all planned and reactive maintenance of vehicles and equipment ensuring that all files are kept up to date with relevant documentation/certification in place. You’ll regularly speak with drivers regarding vehicle defects and breakdowns and ensure that all vehicle records are administered correctly.
Additionally, you will carry out regular spot checks on vehicles making sure they comply with DVSA’s standard of roadworthiness and look after any refurbishment and repairs of other plant/equipment. As the Assistant Fleet Transport Manager you will be expected to investigate all road traffic collisions with drivers, video footage etc and report findings to the insurers.
You will have an opportunity to be involved in many projects around fleet improvements and technological advancements in the fleet with the continued rollout of PDA and cab based vehicle defect reporting and other advancements planned for the future. It is hoped that you will play your part in taking the business to FORS Silver status.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong fleet and compliance management background with experience of managing a transport operation. You will have ideally been on the tools early on in your career and progressed with the addition of a national CPC.
