Nottingham City Council's Fleet Services operation based at Eastcroft Depot are looking for an Assistant Workshop Manager. The post holder will provide day-to-day line management for the fleet engineering and support staff working on the alternating AM/PM shifts in the workshop, undertaking effective performance management of the workforce and ensuring productivity levels are maximised.
The post holder will develop and maintain relationships with both customers and suppliers to maximise service delivery. The post holder will be required to actively resolve any operational issues that may arise, providing service continuity for both internal and external customers and at all times ensuring that an outstanding level of customer service is delivered.
The post holder will lead by example by being a visible presence on the shop floor, undertaking mechanical work on vehicles and plant where necessary and being available to provide technical supervision and guidance for the fleet engineering staff.
A background in vehicle engineering including proven experience as a fitter at NVQ level 3 or a City & Guilds Certificate in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering, or equivalent
Experience of day-to-day management of fleet engineering and support staff to a supervisory level - including undertaking performance management procedures
Experience of supervising a large fleet maintenance facility
