Group Transport Manager

Our client are currently recruiting for a Group Transport Manager ideally based in the Midlands area.

This business is a dedicated Healthcare provider prominently to the NHS across most areas of England.The 4 laundry facilities currently process and despatch over 2.3 million pieces of bed linen per week.The business continues to grow organically and through acquisitions.

Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 364 days a year the vehicles cover around 3.5 million Km’s per year moving over 900,000 roll cages to and from our clients.The business currently employs around 70 transport personnel and has a fleet size of around 25 vehicles.

Responsibilities

The post holder has responsibility for logistics operations based in the North West, South Yorkshire, the Midlands and Greater London and ideally will be located to support all these regions.

Your main duties will be ensuring the group logistics operates within the current rules and regulations ranging from drivers’ hours, vehicle maintenance to working time directive, whilst operating a busy delivery and collection service to our customers.

Supported by 3 local Transport Managers and Supervisors you will ensure that drivers are debriefed and coached where necessary using vehicle telematics, digital tachograph reports and any otherlegislation and regulatory governance.Reporting to the Operations Director and working closely with other senior managers and executives, you must be comfortable communicating at all levels within the organisation.

Key Skills Required

Essential – Full Driving License.

A Transport Managers CPC qualification along with HGV C+E entitlement is essential as is experience of operating a multi-site and vehicle transport operation.

The role is diverse and so the successful applicant must be able to work on his/her own initiative and think on their feet.

A proven track record of operating success, innovation and development.

Ability to lead a disciplined cost leadership strategy within budget restraints.

Various software operating systems are used within the business with MS office used widely within the department and the proficiency in MS Excel & Word is an ideal criterion.

Successful interviewees will be asked to present a no more than 10 minute presentation on operational KPI’s.
