Location. This is an "all encompassing" role which will be based at the site in Nottingham - although candidates residing in such locations as Chesterfield, Derby, Burton on Trent, Loughborough, Mansfield etc will find commuting a good proposition. Note you will on occasions be visiting both suppliers and customers.


• Control and management of logistical planning and distribution of products
• Develop optimised solutions for the cost effective use of sub-contracted haulage firms
• Supervise the movement, unloading and loading of material and goods by both internal and third party logistics transportation.
• Use the ERP system to full effect - generating despatch documentation and reports
• Control the quality and accuracy of all raw material inward and outward transportation documentation.
• Work with Production management to ensure uniformity of production and despatch delivery dates.
• Continually strive to reduce the costs within the process
• Ensure procedures are in place to enable the safe and complete loading and despatch of finished goods to internal/external customers
• Develop optimised solutions for the cost effective use of sub-contracted haulage firms
• Carry out pre delivery site checks and the necessary paperwork
• Liaise with customers, transport operators, shipping companies and other sites in a professional manner.
• Ensure the effective planning and management of all Despatch resources.
• Development of personnel and key skills base including development reviews as appropriate
• Conduct briefings, tool box talks, accident investigations and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures
• Comply with the Company Code of Conduct. Take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself, direct reports, colleagues and other persons who may be affected by your acts and omissions at work, and for the environment.
• Maintain links with supply chain for service/repairs on vehicles
• Prepare plans for future material handling needs and man power requirements

Experience / Skills / Personal Attributes

• A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in manufacturing or logistics industry
• Good IT skills, in particular Excel
• Experience in people management with excellent communication skills

Closing Date : We are looking to set up first interviews within the second week of August with second interviews within a week following that. An offer to the successful applicant will be made within 3 days of second interview.
