Your new role
The SEND Transport Manager is responsible for managing the day to day running of the SEND Transport service, ensuring that transport for children with SEND is delivered on time and effectively and that, where and when assessed as necessary Travel Escorts and Buddies are utilised effectively. You will oversee the provision of home-school transport across the borough and be accountable for the effective contract monitoring of all organisations that provide transport services to the council. This role is critical in driving up customer satisfaction and will oversee a cycle of improvement to ensure best value of service. Main responsibilities will include:
Line management of Travel Escorts and Travel Buddy Coordinators
Ensuring that a high-quality service is provided to children, young people and vulnerable adults to whom the Council has a duty of care
Maintain up to date information on PTS passengers and service users to support the routing, travel, and risk assessment needs of the service.
Make evidence-based decisions about transport eligibility Work in partnership with schools, families, children, and young people to create safe, effective and efficient transport arrangements.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for a motivated individual with management experience who has experience working with vulnerable children and/or young people (preferably those with SEND) and an understanding of how different disabilities can impact on a student's ability to travel. You should have:
Competent user of Microsoft Office suite - Word, Excel, Outlook
Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
Experience of working with and monitoring the work of external contractors
A passion for delivering excellent services and a good track record of customer satisfaction
