MSS Executive Search Team are currently working with a successful family run business in Teesside. Our well-established client is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Transport Manager to join their Senior management team.

The main purpose of the role will be to take responsibility for managing a busy department with 45 HGV vehicles including Curtain siders and Tippers. Reporting to the Managing Director this is a challenging and rewarding role for someone looking for a long-term career.

Duties & Key Accountabilities:

* Management of 45 HGV vehicles, including Curtain siders and Tippers.

* Ensuring compliance of all vehicles and a comprehensive understanding of Drivers hours regulations and working time directive.

* Ensure effective and efficient use of driver and vehicle resources.

* Ensure customer requirements are managed in a timely and controlled manner.

* Commercial involvement to seek and grow new opportunities.

* Maintaining existing client relationships.

* Point of contact for suppliers and services and enquiries.

* Involvement with Driver recruitment.

* Training and Development of team, including appraisals.

* Plan operational resource including deliveries, loads, goods in and goods out.

* Organisation of trailers and yard ensuring optimum efficiency.

* Analyse logistical problems and produce new solutions.

* Work alongside an active senior management team to grow and develop the business.

* Good financial and business acumen with experience of managing budgets.

* Monitor and analyse of department KPIs to look for trends and opportunities to facilitate continuous improvement initiatives within the team.

* Utilising internal CRM system.

* Support with administration and invoicing.

Candidate Profile:

A Manager or experienced Deputy holding an Operator’s license and managing the compliance, operations and maintenance of a fleet of heavy goods vehicles & drivers, including articulated vehicles, fuel tankers and tanked vehicles carrying other hazardous materials. A candidate looking for a significant career move with a long-term future would be ideal.

Key skills and Experience:

* Experience managing a busy transport / logistics department.

* Experience with articulated vehicles, fuel tankers and tanked vehicles carrying other hazardous materials.

* Proven management and leadership skills.

* Excellent organisation and communication skills.

* Good financial and business acumen with experience of managing budgets.

* Knowledge of Supply chain, Logistics or Transport

* Energetic and keen to develop long term career.
