Our Client based in Edinburgh are recruiting for a qualified Transport Manager/Fleet Engineer to oversee the fleet maintenance and workshop function of there growing business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a fleet of road haulage vehicles as well as various pieces of plant & machinery within the business.
The position further involves being the nominated Transport Manager for the company’s Operator’s Licence.
Key responsibilities will include:
Day to day oversight, planning and management of the workshop and staff
Handle the requirements of the Operator’s Licence
Management of maintenance and inspection schedules for fleet, other company vehicles and all plant & machinery (including MOTs)
Responsible for all record keeping and administration in respect of fleet, other company vehicles and plant & machinery
Handling and investigating any accidents or incidents, including insurance claims where necessary
Handling defect reports and planning remedial works as required
Managing aspects of administration relating to drivers as required. For example: keeping records of driving licences and CPC cards; monitoring expiry dates; checking drivers’ hours and monitoring these in respect of tachograph rules and WTD; and debriefing drivers in respect of any infringements
Responsible for stock of various consumables, including fuel.
Responsibilities include costing, purchasing, approval of invoices, managing usage and stock levels including taking monthly stock takes
Ensuring that all plant & machinery and vehicles comply with health and safety
Any other tasks as required by the business for the effective functioning of the workshop
CPC Level 3 in Road Haulage Operations
Excellent working knowledge of road transport legislation
Ability to comply with the Operator’s Licence requirements on behalf of the company
Previous experience in a workshop and fleet management role
The applicant should be aware that although this is a largely office-based position, a hands-on approach may be necessary as the needs of the business require and as such, a can-do attitude to practical work within the workshop environment is required
