Leading Welsh Waste Management and Recycling Company.

Purpose and Responsibilities as Transport Manager

The role is to manage the Transport Department and to ensure that the Depot meets all obligations set out under it’s Operator’s License in accordance with UK and EU Laws governing vehicle safety and driver hours. To effectively manage all drivers to ensure efficient and effective productivity at all times.

Specific Responsibilities

Ensuring all targets are met within deadlines, without compromising safety or quality.
To work closely with the Commercial Department to ensure excellent customer care/service.
Ensuring that all Company Policies are adhered to and communicating them to staff to ensure their understanding.
Maintaining excellent people management skills to successfully manage the Transport Department.
Liaising with other Department Managers as and when required.
To ensure all required documentation is completed and processed as required by Company policies and procedures.
Effectively communicate to team member’s any business developments, procedures and company requirements.
Ensure operational and financial efficiency of Transport Department.

Ensure compliance and promoting the company health and safety culture at all times by understanding the company health and safety policy and ensuring that the arrangements detailed in it are implemented and maintained.

Transport Manager Person Specification

Prioritise Health and Safety Discipline within the Department.
Excellent customer service skills.
Understanding of in house systems and procedures.
Ability to work to deadlines.
Possessing strong organisational and problem-solving skills for planning activities and re-arranging quick response activities.
Speed, accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent people and communication skills - motivating, supportive & developmental skills to build a genuine team ethos. Must be able to deal with team/individual performance.
Reliable and trustworthy

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Transport Management Experience: 2 years minimum
Waste Management OR Recycling Sector Experience: 2 years minimum
Transport Manager CPC holder
