To manage the safe and cost effective utilisation of all drivers and equipment within their locations ensuring that the customer service requirements are fully met and in line with the business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:-
Recruit drivers ensuring that all aspects of the selection process have been completed
Manage the drivers by holding safety meetings, monitoring absence and completing spot assessments
Maintain awareness of volume forecasts and keep up to date with the customers
Organise training of all new drivers, as part of their induction, in tasks specific to the role ensuring that standards are developed and performance improved
Organise training for all existing drivers
Engage the services of accredited driver agencies as required, ensuring that these drivers maintain the required standard
Manage the fleet resources, in conjunction with the Contract Manager and Fleet Engineer
Manage the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment
Investigate Service Failures and provide preventative measures.
Ensure that digital tachographs are downloaded and uploaded for analysis
Ensure that infringements and faults are discussed with drivers and report books signed
Record and follow up/close out Accidents, Incidents and Near Misses/Site Defects
Maintain, review and update contract specific Risk Assessments
Reduce the frequency rate of safety incidents
Ensure continued improvement in Customer Service statistics
Improve Profitability of Contract
CPC Qualification
Full knowledge of EU Driver Hours Rules and the Working Time Directive
Conversant with current road transport legislation
Ability to lead and manage the Driver Team
Ability to delegate

Ability to work on own initiative
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to identify mistakes and correct them
Attention to detail- Highly accurate
Excellent written and verbal skills
Strong organisational & Prioritisation skills
