Job Title: Transport Manager
Location: Avonmouth
Reporting to: Transport Director
Culina Group a well established leader in the Chilled Logistics market is recruiting for a Transport Manager on a permanent basis at our Avonmouth depot.
The role holder will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Ensure the effective operation of the Transport function, driving continuous improvements & further develop integrated transport solutions to deliver a premium & cost effective service
- Responsible for producing, agreeing & managing the Transport budget, accounting for any variances
- Fully engaging any new initiatives at the depot, ensuring projects are successful in line with business needs
- Manage & maintain agreed service levels pro-actively seek business improvements in terms of performance, increased efficiency and service levels. Manage resource, labour turnover, sickness levels
- Responsible for agreeing & managing budget performance & profitability of the Transport operation 
- Proactively seek optimisation without affecting service
- Integration and control of new cross dock clients, increased vehicle fleet to include offsite parking
- Responsible for the interface between every area of the operation to ensure efficiency & effectiveness
- Direct, motivate & develop team members to equip them with the skills to lead & manage their teams
- Compliance to all statutory legislation in regard to Health & Safety & statutory Transport rules & regulations 
- Manage a group of 3rd party hauliers in National & International journeys
- Responsible for communication cascades throughout the transport operation
- Propose, agree & implement service standard agreements for products with customers 
- Ensure a secure & safe environment for staff & products. Support the company in its carbon footprint
- Client interface with all major customers including implementation meetings, customer reviews 
- Provide effective leadership & direction to the Transport Department, working to tight deadlines
- Ensure the Company’s Operator Licences are maintained efficiently & accurately at all times
- Drive through continuous improvement initiatives, proactive management of new legislation
- Effectively manage the Transport Department through KPI measures, day to day decision making for administration teams
- Significant UK & continental supplier collection responsibilities
- Achieve efficiency through managing planning & controlling staff on a daily & ongoing basis through objectives
Competence Requirements:
- Contract Management and Man Management skills. 
- Operational experience in a food transport environment alongside significant transport experience in a FMCG capacity. National & International CPC & IOSH is essential.
- Key influencer at all levels, pragmatic approach to problem solving
- Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy. Negotiating skills, ability to influence and steer
- Leadership & motivational qualities and proven experience of building a team
- An effective communicator at all levels, good verbal and written skills
- Team player, confident manager, skilled at setting clear objectives and motivating team to achieve them
- Highly tolerant of change and able to drive change within an evolving business organisation
- Able to thrive in a highly competitive and demanding non bureaucratic environment
- Able to work efficiently across the business and functional boundaries
- Commercially focused and bottom line orientated. Consumer orientated and customer service driven
