Transport General Manager

I am looking for an experienced Transport manager for a 3PL business based in the midlands who move a great deal of freight and parcels this is a growing and fast paced role with so much growth and development.

Responsible for all people development across the site managing reviews performance reviews as well as managing all labour across the sites and different shift patterns

Management of a large driver work force as well as all compliance health and safety management recording of infringements etc.

Ensure that all vehicles are kept in a clean, safe, roadworthy condition and serviced in accordance with company policy

Ensure company drivers understand their responsibilities and reporting mechanisms, to monitor their reporting to comply with company, legislative and regulatory compliance and where necessary have received the relevant training.

Ensure that The Road Traffic Act and the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations, administered by the police and agencies such as the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), is adhered to.

Direct responsibility for all Transport operations by performance management of the operational team, ensuring that they are accountable / responsible in relation to their duties

Achieving budgeted levels of productivity and adherence to all Company and customer KPI's to ensure an efficient and professional level of service is provided to all customers within the agreed delivery schedules

Build and maintain effective Customer Partnerships and Account Management Managing the deployment of labour, and ensuring all operational deadlines are met

Encourage innovation and strategic thinking within the management and operational teams Improve employee engagement amongst the workforce and develop appropriate action plans

Key aspects of the successful candidate include:

Experience of FMCG distribution (preferably food or parcels) on a multi-site basis

Desirable to be Degree Qualified or equivalent Organised and good time management Experience of business partnering with multiple customers’ Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business Confidence to negotiate, challenge and influence Attention to detail
