Established 40 years ago, the business has undergone tremendous success and is now one of the leading processors and suppliers in their market sector. From their BRC Grade A facility, the business supply over 400 fresh and ambient products all over the UK.
The main aim of this role will be to provide and manage a safe, efficient, reliable and cost-effective delivery and collection service for a wide customer base. In addition, you will lead, coach and motivate a team of drivers promoting a customer centric ethos whilst taking the lead role in planning; costing and allocating routes and vehicles’, ensuring sufficient flexibility is in place to meet the varying and changing needs of customers.
You will ensure that all vehicles are compliant with all legal, regulatory and contractual requirements and where necessary escalating any identified issues and recommending solutions to the Factory Manager and Group TM. You will also be responsible developing and implementing a proactive, planned and structured approach to the maintenance of fleet vehicles, keeping with budget and ensuring all vehicles used are fit for purpose and the customer experience is of a high standard.
You should have good transport management (including people management) experience and whilst not vital, a management qualification and a CPC certificate would be ideal. You must have know-how of tail lift, fork lift and manual handling operations, experience of managing budgets and contracts, experience of EU transport regulations, legal requirements and Working Time Directive, and also experience of heavy goods vehicle maintenance. A full UK driving licence and good geographical knowledge of South Coast are both prerequisites.
The Transport Manager job is based in the South Coast UK region and is paying £40,000 - £45,000 according to individual skills and previous experience. The working hours are 40 between Monday and Friday, with some flexibility required.
