Role Purpose

This is a newly created role in the re-structured M Group Services
Fleet Solutions team (MGSPFS). The Fleet Solutions team is responsible
for all the different elements of the Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV)
and heavy goods vehicles (HGV) hire function of 3000 light commercial
vehicles and heavy goods vehicles (a mixture of MGSPFS and external
hire vehicles). The function is responsible for the hire and
operational fleet management of the LCV/HGV vehicles to internal group
companies across the UK.

Duties / Responsibilities

The LCV/HGV Hire & Fleet Manager will both manage the LCV/HGV hire /
fleet team and be a hands-on ‘doer’. The LCV/HGV team receive all on
hire/off hire calls/e mails and must manage the end-to-end hire
process for all LCV/HGV’s. The team will be responsible for all areas
of administration, driver service and interaction with MGSPFS
preferred suppliers. Supported by the LCV/HGV supervisor and the 3
other team members; the team will handle all on/off hire enquiries,
source the hire and follow through all aspects of the process and all
of the necessary fleet administration.

The LCV/HGV fleet administration team includes receiving new vehicles
onto the MGSPFS LCV/HGV fleet, the defleet of end of life vehicles,
operator’s licence notification, fuel cards, congestion charging, dart
crossing, short / medium term external hire, maximum utilisation of
the LCV/HGV fleet, chasing down vehicles that are off road, driving
licence checking, vehicle telematics, the effective and accurate input
/ management of the fleet management and hire systems, plus any other
general needs relating to the LCV/HGV fleet across the M Group
Services family of companies.

The Fleet Solutions department has stiff financial targets to meet and
the financial performance of the LCV/HGV hire fleet has a key part to
play in achieving these targets through the efficient management of
processes / suppliers and the full utilisation of the MGSPFS LCV/HGV
hire fleet.

Skills and Knowledge Requirements

*

LCV/HGV Experience: experience of the hire of or fleet management
of LCV & HGV’s. A good knowledge of these vehicle types and some
understanding of the legislation relevant to these vehicle types

Management Experience: experience of successfully motivating and
managing a team

*

People Skills and Attitude: very good at talking to both internal
contacts placing hires and drivers; professional, sincere and
friendly; with a can do attitude

*

Customer Service: delivering excellent customer service by
delivering what is promised, helping internal customers with
whatever enquiry / problem that needs to be solved.

*

Dedication and Determination; to follow through tasks so they are
completed on time and correctly; putting in the required effort to
deal with sometimes high workloads

*

Organisation & Multi-tasking; this is a multi-faceted role with a
number of work streams all running concurrently at all times;
excellent organisational skills and multi-tasking are a key skill

*

Systems and Word, Excel; good level of experience working on IT
software systems; open minded and quick to learn new systems, good
word and excel skills

*

Quality Control: passion to deliver good quality, correct work
individually and from the team they head up.

Additional Information

Must have experience in either managing or the hire management of an
LCV/HGV vehicle fleet; ideally working for a large fleet, vehicle hire
company or leasing company.
