ROVER has increased prices across its 200 range. Most models are subject to a £300 increase but the entry level 214i list price goes up by £400 to £10,395 for the three-door and £10,895 for the five-door.

The hike follows a price and spec rise of around £200 across the 400 series range earlier this month (Fleet News, May 3) but Rover's corporate sales director Steve Harris said the 200's price premium over its rivals was compensated by lower running costs and higher driver appeal. Sample prices: 214i 5-dr £10,895, 214Si 5-dr £11,995, 216Si 5-dr £12,995, 216SLi £14,195, 220D £11,295, 220SD £12,495, 220SDi £13,595 (plus £451delivery charge).
