MAZDA has been slashing prices and upgrading specification of its range-topping Xedos models in a bid to attract more fleet buyers. Prices now start at £16,400 for the Xedos 6 1.6i to offer a saving of £1,000 over the previous version.

There is also a new model called the Xedos 6 2.0i Sport priced at £19,400 which costs £300 less than the standard 2.0 litre model it replaces. It gains new mesh-type alloy wheels and a boot spoiler.

The Xedos 6 2.0 SE also gets alloys along with electric driver's seat adjustment, leather upholstery, air conditioning and cruise control. Prices are unchanged at £21,700. The Xedos 9 gains leather upholstery in light grey, burr walnut facings plus an upgraded stereo package with infra-red control and a six disc CD autochanger. Price is £27,400.
