A SECOND major electronic trading initiative - AT&T's TransLease system - is due to go live with a series of pilot studies next month. TransLease - whose participants include Kwik-Fit, ATS, Autolease, Highway and British Car Contracts - is to conduct an evaluation process involving Lex Vehicle Leasing and two Lex Retail dealerships.

The one-month pilots will take place at Lex's Vauxhall Stretford and Volvo Birmingham dealerships - enabling them to automatically authorise repair work on vehicles without direct reference to Lex Vehicle Leasing. Transactions between the dealerships and leasing company will be transmitted via EDI and once work has been completed, TransLease will forward an electronic invoice. Like OASIS, TransLease is designed to deliver significant administrative savings to subscribers.
