Vans maintain healthy increase

VAN sales in November were almost 3,000 units up on November 1996 at 18,782 (15,792) taking vans sales in 1997 to 200,232 units against 179,055 in the first 11 months of last year. Sales of light vans totalled 6,717 last month (November 1996: 5,720) to take sector sales for the year to 77,067 (68,496).

Meanwhile, van sales in the 1801-3500kg sector totalled 12,065 last month (10,072) to take sector sales for the year to 123,165 (110,559). Among manufacturers to record significant increases to date this year were Citroen 9,633 (1996: 6,028), Daihatsu 3,420 (2,903) and Fiat 6,258 (5,174).
