A GROWING need to support its 300-strong fleet on a nationwide basis has resulted in rail track renewal specialist Fastline signing a deal with Fleet Cost Management. York-based Fastline historically operated only in its own region, but following rail privatisation is enjoying success around the country.

Using FCM's software, Fastline can pre-authorise its own maintenance and service work for its fleet of cars and light commercial vehicles, which are mainly supplied by Vauxhall and Ford.

An FCM card is issued to each driver which can be used at 22,500 fuel and fleet service outlets nationwide. However, rather than call FCM to authorise expenditure, the merchant contacts Fastline using a number on the card. The software allows fleets direct access to the FCM network for a wide range of fleet services - in Fastline's case, fuel and maintenance. The company has also subscribed to FCM's accident management service.
