NATIONAL Car Auctions has bought A1 Motor Auctions, an independent company based in West Yorkshire, for an undisclosed sum. The move takes NCA's nationwide network of auction sites to seven, and it has confirmed it is looking to acquire other auction houses.

Ron Leader, chief executive of the NCA Group, announced plans to expand A1's premises within nine months, building a new auction facility and doubling the parking available. A1 Motor Auctions will keep its name, and its three founders. John Lane, Justin Lane and Sean Parnham will retain their existing roles at the Knottingley site.

'With a current weekly throughput of 300 vehicles, the majority of our business is from main dealer groups. By combining the fleet expertise of NCA we can look forward to a very prosperous future,' said John Lane.
