BCR Car & Van Rental is saving hundreds of man-hours a month by using a mobile servicing facility to maintain its cars on site. The daily rental specialist is using Hometune - 33% owned by Kwik-Fit - to service its Rover fleet according to manufacturer schedules.

Hometune has a fleet of about 100 mobile engineers equipped to carry out both petrol and diesel servicing, including electronic emission analysis, and all work is guaranteed. The cost saving stems from the ease of on-site servicing, which minimises vehicle downtime, a crucial consideration for a rental company, and saves man hours since vehicles do not have to be delivered and collected from dealers.

All Hometune transactions are included in Kwik-Fit Fleet's central billing scheme, requiring just one payment a month. Ron Bambra, Kwik-Fit Fleet's managing director, said: 'At a time when the traditional franchised dealer network appears to be shrinking, mobile servicing has got to represent the ultimate in convenience for fleets.'
