TREASURY bosses have said the views of fleets chiefs in response to the Fleet News-inspired 'Driving Business Forward - the future of the company car and business transport' report have been considered in the run-up to Tuesday's Budget. In January fleet managers were asked to back the report.

Subsequently letters from 300 fleet chiefs operating 350,000 vehicles supporting the report, which had already been backed by 20 leading motor industry figures and organisations including the Association of Car Fleet Operators, British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association, the Retail Motor Industry Federation and Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, were sent to Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown and Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott as they put together details of the Budget and May's transport white paper.

Now in a letter to Fleet News, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Dawn Primarolo MP has said: 'The Chancellor and his advisors are always grateful for views and suggestions. Your comments were therefore read with interest and will be considered in preparation for the March Budget.'
