Renault choice saves £80,000

EXPORT company Anglo Overseas Transport has taken delivery of 55 Renault Meganes and Lagunas in a solus contract hire deal with Basildon-based Toomey Hire and Leasing. Toomey will supply the cars on full maintenance four-year 80,000-mile contracts after winning a competitive tender.

John Beagley, Toomey's sales manager, said the company clinched the deal through its consultancy approach to the tender, and its flexible approach to the contracts. A discounted cash flow model showed Anglo Overseas the relative benefits of solus supply arrangements with Ford, Renault, Rover and Vauxhall, taking into account manufacturer support and forecast residual values.

This showed that a solus Rover arrangement would have saved Anglo Overseas around £2,000, £8,000 with Vauxhall, £16,000 with Ford, and £80,000 with Renault.
