FLEET managers' apathy towards effective road safety practices has caused the cancellation of a Brake Road Risk Forum seminar to promote the issue.

The seminar, 'Getting and Keeping Good Car and Van Drivers' was due to be held in Solihull last Friday but only attracted seven delegates. A spokeswoman for the road safety organisation said: 'We are very disappointed and fear this may be a symptom of the apathy regularly claimed as prevalent in the industry.'

The Road Risk Forum's next seminar - on Monday, June 21, at Solihull - is on getting and keeping good lorry and bus drivers. It is hoped topics from the cancelled event will be featured. For more information, ring 01306 741113.
