NISSAN Motor Co president Carlos Ghosn says a decision will be made by the end of January on whether the manufacturer will build the next generation Micra at its Sunderland plant. Once again Ghosn expressed concern about Euro exchange rates, which have fallen sharply against other major currencies since its launch last year, as currency factors trimmed Nissan's profits in the six months to September 30.

Operating profits of 134.4 billion Yen were boosted by reforms to cut costs, sell-off assets and trim payrolls. Net profit for the first half was 172 billion Yen, a reversal of a 323.5 billion Yen net loss a year earlier.
