Fleets continue to shun public transport

FLEET drivers continue to shun public and alternative forms of transport despite increasing pressure from the Government, according to a study funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.

After a six-month trial involving daily travel diary entries, none of the 40 participants saw the need to reduce their own car use. All had been given specific information about public transport, car sharing, cycling and walking by the University of Newcastle team carrying out the trial.
