FLEET operators have given the cold shoulder to calls for company car drivers to become involved in the 'How's My Driving?' scheme. The sticker initiative currently operates across the commercial vehicle industry on around 30,000 vehicles, but a campaign to bring in the scheme to cover the UK's three million company car drivers has been dismissed by the AA.

Members of the eastern region of the Association of Car Fleet Operators (ACFO) were reluctant to see the project expanded to cars, despite proven insurance savings on vans involved in the scheme. Chairman Julie Jenner, fleet manager at Nokia UK, said: 'Personally, driving a company car is my benefit. I pay tax on it for private use. Commercial vehicles are different. I'm sure if people see vehicles being driven badly they will go through the proper channels by reporting it to the police.'
