VAUXHALL has launched a new 200bhp Astra GSi boasting 0-60mph in seven seconds and a theoretical maximum speed of 150mph.

Like the Zafira GSi, the hot Astra was developed by General Motors' Opel Performance Centre in Germany and uses a modified 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and lower, stiffer suspension.

Standard equipment includes air conditioning, a CD radio, trip computer, cruise control, electric windows and mirrors, remote central locking, sports seats and an alarm.

The Astra GSi has an official combined fuel consumption figure of 31.7mpg, carbon dioxide emissions of 214g/km, and is priced at £16,495 on-the-road.
